Multi-Agency Training

‘I am in no doubt that effective support for children and families cannot be achieved by a single agency acting alone. It depends on a number of agencies working well together. It is a multi –disciplinary task’.

Lord Laming, Victoria Climbié Inquiry, 2003

The Sheffield Safeguarding Children Board and Safeguarding Children Service has a long record of providing high quality multi-agency safeguarding children training through a Training Pool and a team of specialist trainers.

SSCB Training Strategy 2015-2016:

The purpose of this document is to provide a framework to support safeguarding training in Sheffield, so that those who work with children, young people and families – including managers, practitioners and volunteers – are appropriately skilled, competent and confident in carrying out their responsibilities in regard to safeguarding.

Our training and development principles:

  • Child centred, identifying their rights and needs and ensuring that their welfare is paramount
  • Respecting diversity and promoting partnership, recognising families’ strengths in responding to the needs of their children
  • Inclusive of the wide range of individuals and organisations that play a role in safeguarding and promoting the well being of all children
  • Valuing people - bringing people together in groups which mirror the diversity of practice networks engaged with children and their families
