Substance Misuse Training

The Safeguarding Children Substance Misuse Service provides training to staff from partner agencies. It is appropriate for all managers and frontline practitioners who have contact with parents who abuse substances, both drugs and alcohol.

Learning Objectives:

  • To develop a greater understanding of parental substance misuse and the effects on the child.
  • To develop knowledge of the current research base and principles of ‘best practice’ in working with parents who misuse substances and their children.
  • To develop skills in assessment and intervention.
  • To obtain an understanding of policy developments in Sheffield and resources available locally to support assessment and appropriate intervention.
  • To increase the effectiveness of multi-agency working by exploring different agencies roles and responsibilities.

Limited numbers of places will be available for each agency on each course to gain a good multi-agency participation. Therefore please do not book all your team on to the same course!
