Education Safeguarding Children Training
This section outlines the safeguarding children courses for staff in education:
Safeguarding Children Induction (details below):
- For all staff within 2-4 weeks of taking up their post
- Does not replace the Basic Safeguarding Children in Education Training (see below)
- Delivered by the Child Protection Liaison Teacher/Officer
- 'Confidence in Training' course available to develop CPLT/O skills (see below)
Safer Recruitment (Accredited) Training:
- For all staff involved in recruitment and selection, and governors
- Delivered by the Local Authority (with charge)

Child Protection On-Line Learning (use this link for more details):
- Can be completed in short sections
- An additional safeguarding induction for staff who work with children (no charge)
Basic Safeguarding Children in Education
- Delivered by Local Authority (with charge)
- For all staff who have regular contact with children
- Legal requirement every 3 years
- Available as whole-school training (contact your Advisor directly) or individual staff (below)
SafetyNET (use this link for more details)
- Delivered by Local Authority (no charge)
- For all pastoral and support staff who work with children with additional or complex needs
Common Assessment Framework & Lead Professional Role (use this link for more details)
- Delivered by Local Authority (no charge)
- for all pastoral and support staff responsibile for assessing childrens needs
Advanced Safeguarding Children in Education (details below)
- Delivered by Local Authority (with charge)
- Legal requirement for all new Child Protection Liaison Teachers/Officers and Deputy's
- Must have completed the Basic course above before attending
- Prefer to have completed the SafetyNET and Common Assessment courses before attending
- Useful for other pastoral and support staff with safeguarding role
Refresher - Advanced Safeguarding Children in Education (details below)
- Delivered by Local Authority (with charge)
- Legal requirement for all CPLT/O's and Deputy's every 2 years after completing the Advanced course
- Useful for other pastoral and support staff with safeguarding role after completing Advanced course
Confidence in Training - PLEASE NOTE: THIS COURSE HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL AUTUMN 2010 TO INCREASE TIME FOR STATUTORY TRAINING. APOLOGIES FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE
- Delivered by the Local Authority (with charge)
- For CPLT/O's to develop skills to deliver Safeguarding Induction
- Must have completed Basic, SafetyNET, CAF & LP, and Advanced courses above first
Multi-Agency Child Protection Training (use this link for more details)
- Delivered by the Sheffield Safeguarding Children Board (no charge)
- For CPLT/O's, Deputy's and other pastoral and support staff with safeguarding role
Governors Safeguarding Children Training:
- Delivered by Local Authority (no charge)
- For Safeguarding/Child Protection Governors or whole Governing Body
