Safeguarding Children Substance Misuse Service
The Safeguarding Children Substance Misuse Service works to lessen the impact on children of parental substance misuse, by working with both the adult drug and alcohol treatment services and the child care services.
This is undertaken through:
- the development of policies, multi-agency protocols and other guidance
- the delivery of multi-agency training
- the development of screening systems e.g. MAPLAG (pregnant women disclosing substance misuse)
- the production of awareness raising literature for the substance misusing community
- providing direct advice to workers from all agencies
- working with partner agencies to further develop services to safeguard the needs of children living in houses where there is substance misuse.
The project ensures that child protection remains on the agenda of all services associated with drug and alcohol misuse and that substance misuse remains on the agenda of all services associated with parenting, family work and childcare.
If you would like further information about any aspect of the Substance Misuse Project, training sessions, leaflets or substance misuse please contact Mandy Craig or Toni Claridge using the contact details shown above.
