Practice Review & Standards Group (PRSG)
What We Do
We set standards in accordance with the South Yorkshire Safeguarding Children Boards' Child Protection Procedures.
We measure agency practice and audit against these standards: this involves examining individual agency practice including the way agencies work together and share information in relation to safeguarding children.
We take action to ensure families & young people are consulted and enabled to participate in the development of policies, procedures and publicity materials.
We raise awareness and understanding amongst the public around safeguarding children and promoting their welfare.
Serious case Reviews & Cases of Concern
We facilitate enquiries following the unexpected death of a child. In such cases we may commission a Serious Case Review in accordance with the guidance contained in the HM Government document 'Working Together to Safeguard Children 2006'.
We review cases of concern ('near misses') where there were issues about multi-agency working and we identify and highlight areas of good practice as well as areas for improvement where found.
The next PRSG meeting will be held on 23 October2008. PRSG meetings are held quarterly.
