Policy and Procedures Implementation Group

The SSCB Policies and Procedures Implementation Group (PPIG) ensures that up-to-date multi-agency procedures on safeguarding children are made available to all staff working with children and their families.

This is ensured by the following:

  • having an overview of the development of procedures and protocols locally, regionally and nationally
  • ensuring the South Yorkshire Child Protection Procedures are updated in accordance with government guidance
  • ensuring the development of procedures and protocols  is co-ordinated across South Yorkshire
  • commissioning procedures and protocols as appropriate from professionals recognised as having skills and expertise in the relevant specialised areas
  • setting up inter-agency task groups of appropriate professionals to develop specialist knowledge and consensus around particular issues and using this to inform the development of procedures and protocols
  • supporting and assisting agencies (in the statutory and voluntary and community sectors) in the development of their own in-house procedures
  • developing strategies for implementing procedures across all agencies.
