Policy and Procedures Implementation Group
The SSCB Policies and Procedures Implementation Group (PPIG) ensures that up-to-date multi-agency procedures on safeguarding children are made available to all staff working with children and their families.
This is ensured by the following:
- having an overview of the development of procedures and protocols locally, regionally and nationally
- ensuring the South Yorkshire Child Protection Procedures are updated in accordance with government guidance
- ensuring the development of procedures and protocols is co-ordinated across South Yorkshire
- commissioning procedures and protocols as appropriate from professionals recognised as having skills and expertise in the relevant specialised areas
- setting up inter-agency task groups of appropriate professionals to develop specialist knowledge and consensus around particular issues and using this to inform the development of procedures and protocols
- supporting and assisting agencies (in the statutory and voluntary and community sectors) in the development of their own in-house procedures
- developing strategies for implementing procedures across all agencies.
PPIG membership includes:
- Chair (Policy Development Coordinator)

- Chair of SSCB Practice Review and Standards Group
- Chair of SSCB Training Standards Implementation Group
- Sheffield City Council Legal adviser
and senior service managers / representatives from:
- Children and Young People's Service Multi-Agency Support Services
- Children and Young People's Service social care operations
- Children and Young People's Service social care policy and strategy
- NHS Sheffield
- Police
- Probation
- Safeguarding Sheffield Children Advisory Service
- Third sector representatives
Meetings take place on a quarterly basis.
