Information for the Licensed Trade
The licensing reforms introduced by the Licensing Act 2003, initiated efforts to ensure the provision of a family friendly culture at licensed premises, where children can learn to socialise, integrate and drink responsibly within a safe environment.
Under the Act, the Sheffield Safeguarding Children Board is a Responsible Authority. We have commissioned the Licensing Project to assist Sheffield City Council Licensing Authority and licensees in meeting the objectives to safeguard children at licensed premises.

Help for Licensees
To help support people who are responsible for managing licensed premises, there is information on these web pages along with leaflets and guidance you can download.
The Children's Charter
As part of a publicity campaign to remind adults of their responsibilities to supervise their children on licensed premises and to promote some 'keep safe house rules' a poster in two different sizes, A3 and A4, has been produced: see below.

- A Risk Assessment Tool for Licensees: is a document Licensees can use to help them undertake risk assessment when considering the potential risk to ALL children under 18 who may have access to the premises as customers, employees, residents, friends, relatives or other children who may access the premises.
- The Children's Safeguarder at Licensed Premises: provides guidance on the role of staff designated as the Children's Safeguarder at licensed premises.
