Information for Parents, Carers and Families
These pages contain information that may be useful if you are a parent, carer or family member.
They include:
- information about child protection enquiries
- information about the child protection conferences
- information about not leaving children alone in cars
We have produced a leaflet called Keeping Children Safe: Information for Parents and Carers. It includes information on a number of topics including people and organisations who look after your child, preventing accidents, the Internet and mobile phones, safe sleeping with your baby, you and other people's children. You can download it from the attachment below, or contact us for hard copies.
Sheffield City Council have also produced Parenting Handbooks, for parents of children aged 0-5 and
5-19. They can be downloaded via the Parenting Handbook link above, or you can pick up a copy from First Point at Howden House, Union Street, Sheffield Information Link (0114 275 6699) in Leopold Street, your local library or Children's Centre. The Council also offers free parenting courses from the C'mon Everybody team and you can get involved in the Sheffield Parent's Assembly.
The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) has produced a publication, entitled Parent Know-How. It aims to make sure that parents can get the help they need, when they need it by providing information on a range of services available to parents.
The Ask Sid website provides information for people in Sheffield. It contains lots of helpful information for parents and carers. There are also separate pages for children and young people to access.
