Drug or Alcohol Misuse in PregnancyDrug and / or alcohol use in pregnancy All women disclosing drug and / or alcohol misuse in pregnancy must be referred to the specialist midwife for drugs and alcohol (0114 226 8000 bleep 903). These cases are then brought for discussion at MAPLAG. MAPLAG (multi-agency pregnancy liaison and assessment group) is a fortnightly meeting chaired and managed by the Sheffield Safeguarding Children Board (SSCB) Substance Misuse project. The group meets to discuss safeguarding children issues relating to women who experience difficulties with drugs and / or alcohol during pregnancy. Why do MAPLAG meetings take place?
